Tanawan is a native word meaning a place where you could see the entire view under it. In the case of brgy. Tanawan, its is located on the top hilly portion of Sierra Madre Mountain nothwest of Dingalan Proper. Its topography is rolling hills to mountainous with an area of 3,275 hectares .

In Census 2010, Brgy. Tanawan has 656 population.There is a 1 elementary school & high school students cater by Dingalan National High School.
Upland farming is the source of livelihood of the residents of Tanawan, compliments with cogon gathering. The rolling hills are suited as pasture area for livestock production and inland fishing is being developed in some areas.
